Skytrax - an organization specialized in aviation assessment has announced the ranking results of airports in the world in 2018, based on surveys from more than 550 airports worldwide. Accordingly, in the list of the world's best airports for passenger transport capacity, Tan Son Nhat stands at the top 30 airports with the capacity to transport passengers from 30-40 million or more passengers per year, in the total of 70 airports ranked. Skytrax's 2018 survey is based on customer satisfaction with airports around the world, after aggregating results from more than 13.7 million passengers in more than 100 different countries. Passengers were asked questions regarding the service at the airport from check-in to shipping, shopping, security, etc.

Leading the list of the world's best airports for transport capacity of 50 million or more passengers are Changi Airport (Singapore), Incheon and Tokyo Haneda (Japan), Hong Kong, etc.

Meanwhile, at the top 100 best airports in the world, Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) also stands at 82nd place.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (formerly known as Tan Son Nhut Airport) is an international airport in South Vietnam. The 850-hectare Tan Son Nhat International Airport ranks second in terms of area and first in terms of station capacity (with a capacity of 15-17 million passengers/year - overloaded when the passenger volume is more than 25 million passengers/year, compared with the current capacity of Noi Bai Airport - Hanoi of 20 million and Da Nang Airport of 11 million) and also the airport with the largest number of passenger in Vietnam.

The airport is also the main operating headquarters of all Vietnamese airlines and also the headquarter of Vietnam Airport Corporation which manages all civil airports in Vietnam.
